
Opening this fall at the McMullen Museum
of Art, the exhibit Reflections in Black will offer
African-American photography from the Smithsonian collection,
documenting civil rights activism from the 1950s to the end
of the 20th century. The 1968 photo above by Ernest C. Withers
shows a sanitation workers' strike in Memphis, Tennessee,
and what would be Martin Luther King, Jr.'s last march. The
exhibit will run from September 26 to December 7. For information,
